What are Kantha Quilts?

Kantha quilts are beautiful, vibrant, colorful quilts that originate in India and Bangladesh. They are made from pieces of women's old saris and are intricately hand stitched stitched to create light blankets and throws out of scraps of fabric. I love how they re-purpose these to make a completely new beautiful and practical product.

I love animals and one of my favorite things to do is watch wildlife in nature. Over the years we've come across lots of beautiful animals in the great out doors. I thought I would share all of these animal sightings on the blog.

Mila LOVES books. Thomas and I love reading and we love that Mila does too! Reading is a part of our everyday lives, we read to Mila everyday. I've tried to find books whenever we go to thrift stores and have grown a collection of books that she can grow into. It's gotten to the point though that her book bins are overfilling. I eventually want to get a cute smaller wicker bookshelf that will fit all of her books so they stay organized.

Books Mila absolutely loves at 12 months old

I was browsing through the aisles at Tuesday Morning when I discovered the most beautiful tiger plate. It was too pretty to eat on, the vibrant shades of blues and oranges, the plant and flower details were all just gorgeous. The plate was also only $2.99! I didn't buy it that shopping trip because I was contemplating what I would do with it and where I would hang it if I got it. I decided I couldn't pass it up so I went back to Tuesday Morning, luckily it was still there, and I bought it. My plan was to find another plate to pair it with to be displayed on one of our walls.

As of January 10th, Mila is one year old! It's crazy to think a year ago I was in labor giving birth to our precious little girl and through the nursing, diaper changes, sleepless nights, tummy time, rolling, crawling, and now walking our daughter has grown up so much and so have we! Being parents has been an amazing experience and I am glad we have entered this forever commitment to love and nurture our sweet daughter, I love being a mama and wouldn't have it any other way! I feel so blessed to have such a wonderful family, an amazing husband and the sweetest little girl! I am so thankful for these two and look forward to forever watching Mila grow each day, as she learns and develops!

Mila's First Birthday

Our sweet Mila turns 12 months old in less than a week! Last weekend we celebrated a combined 1st birthday party for Mila and her cousin Lucas that is two months older than her. My dad's side of the family was there as well as Thomas's family. It was a lot of fun and cute to see Mila interact with her cousin and everyone. She is such a loving baby and snuggler! She is always happy too. :) We are also going to celebrate her birthday on her actual birthday next Wednesday. I am going to make her a special cake. :)

2017 was the year of becoming a mama and nurturing our beautiful baby girl as she grows up each day. It was also the year we became homeowners and began all of the fun house projects to make the house we bought a home. Yes, 2017 was a leap in our growing up status! I definitely feel like we are 'adulting.' It makes sense too that I went through my Saturn Return in 2017 in astrology this happens for the first time when you are 28-30 years old. It is a time when you mature and are officially considered an adult. While I have a lot of posts I need to share of all of the things we've done so far in our home the past year, the list of projects I want to do to our home's interior continues.

Crazy how fast the year flew by! 2018 is here and in one week it will be Mila's first birthday! The past few weeks have been so busy but also really fun and special. My sister, brother-in-law and nephew flew out here from Hawaii and we got to spend some quality time with them, as well as with Thomas's family. The guys went up skiing and snowboarding at Keystone, while my sister and I hung out around the shops with the babies. The highway even closed to get to our hotel due to snow so we ended up bunking with them for the night. It all worked out well and it was all good. It was also really cool to see snow for Christmas!

Our nephew is two months older than Mila so while they were visiting we threw a first birthday party for both of them as my dad and stepmom's home. It turned out great! I'm sad they left but we plan on seeing them later this year, which I am so excited about!

Anyway I am interested in Numerology and I ordered these books recently:

The Secret Language of Your Name: Unlock the Secrets of Your Name and Birth Date Through the Science of Numerology

Glynis Has Your Number: Discover What Life Has in Store for You with The Power of Numerology

Numerology for Healing:Your Personal Numbers as the Key to a Healthier Life

2018 from a numerology perspective adds up to 11 which adds up to 1. In Numerology 11 is a master number which has significance. I'm excited to get the books listed above so I can learn more about this year being an 11 and 2 year.

This article by Numerologist Felicia Bender describes 2018 as the 11/2 year that is all about partnership, cooperation and balancing our needs and wants with others.

Here is another great article about 2018 from a spiritual and metaphysical perspective.

This article describes January based on your personal year number. Your personal year number in numerology is your birth date, the month and day, added up with the current year (so 2018).

I wish you all many blessings in 2018! I'm excited to start fresh this year and am excited for all of the experiences and opportunities that lie ahead! I'm still working on my goals and New Year resolutions, and I will share them in upcoming posts.

Happy 2018!
